Steel Challenge - Overview
Steel Challenge competition shooting is a great way to get started in the pistol shooting sports. It's an excellent place for beginners because the rules and targets are simple, and movement is not a significant factor.
Steel Challenge - Posters
Steel Challenge posters are a great resource to help new competitors see and understand the details and rules for each stage.
Print and Practice Targets
Print and practice targets are a great way to build your skills and monitor your performance. These targets, which you can easily print at home, offer a cost-effective and convenient method for regular practice. By using a variety of target types, competitors can work on different aspects of their skills, such as precision, speed, and target transition skills. The repetition of aiming at specific points on these printed targets helps to ensure that your body and mind remember how to align sights, get target focused and execute accurately under different conditions.
Dry-Fire Practice and Targets
Dry-fire is a simple way to get focused on your fundamental firearm-handling skills and is one of the most inexpensive, highest value activities you can do to become a more proficient competitor. Dry-fire allows you to practice all aspects of shooting and firearm manipulation except recoil control. If you practice proper technique at least ten minutes a day over a few weeks, you will see positive results the next time you go to the range.
180 Rule and Safe Angles
The 180 rule focuses on where the muzzle of your gun is pointing. In practical shooting sports, the Downrange is the 180 degrees of safe shooting direction. Up-range is the unsafe 180 degrees of shooting direction, away from the targets. Before you start to compete on any stage, it is important to understand the 180-degree plane and how it moves with you as you engage the course of fire.
