Steel Challenge competition is a great way to get started in shooting sports. It's an excellent place for beginners because the rules and targets are simple, and movement is not a significant factor.

Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) is often just referred to as Steel Challenge. It's a speed shooting competition that has simple rules and stages, which makes it an easy event for first-time shooters.

When you come to a Steel Challenge match, it's not just about the guns. You'll see people of all ages having fun with others as they compete in this friendly competition that has something for everyone!

Steel Challenge works to make you the best shooter possible through a competition format that challenges your grip, stance, trigger control, and seeing sights at speed. The farthest target is thirty-five yards, and most targets are seventeen to twenty yards out, making it suitable for beginners and experts.

Steel Challenge is a game of consistency at speed, so whoever has the best skills and makes the fewest number of mistakes wins!

Competitors are scored on how fast they can complete a stage. The winner will have the lowest total time across all stages in a competition. For each run, only one hit per target is needed using an unlimited number of rounds. Your last target is called the stop plate and your stage time and score are recorded when you hit this plate.

SC-101 Five to Go

Five to Go is four 10-inch round steel plate targets set at 5 feet high and each plate is progressively farther than the previous. The stop plate is a quick transition to the right on a 12-inch plate set at 7 yards. Engage (T1-T4) Finish on Stop Plate (SP) - Competitors shoot all five strings from the center shooting box. SC-102 Showdown

Showdown is a five-string stage with two shooting locations. The two shooting locations create a different challenge across the same targets.  Engage (T1-T4) Finish on Stop Plate (SP) - Competitors shoot three strings from one shooting box and two strings from the other with no more than three strings from any one box. There is no movement between boxes during a string. ( Stage Planning )

SC-103 Smoke & Hope

Smoke & Hope is close distance fast shooting with fast transitions on large targets.  Engage (T1-T4) Finish on Stop Plate (SP) - Competitors shoot five strings from one shooting box. The best four out of five runs count for score. ( Stage Planning )

SC-104 Outer Limits

Outer Limits is the only stage in Steel Challenge where movement is part of your timed performance. Remember to keep your firearm pointed down range and your finger out of the trigger guard as you move to the second position. Engage (T1-T4) Finish on Stop Plate (SP) - Competitors shoot four strings, starting from their respective weak-side shooting box. Right-handed shooters will begin from the left, and left-handed shooters will start from the right. Competitors start by engaging the two targets on their starting side of the center-line, then move to the center shooting box, under time, to complete the remaining three targets. Note that any single competitor will use only two of the three boxes. The best three out of four runs count for the overall score.

SC-105 Accelerator

Accelerator is a good mix of shooting near and far as you transition from the two closest targets to the two farthest before finishing on the center stop plate.  Engage (T1-T4) Finish on Stop Plate (SP) - Competitors shoot all five strings from the center shooting box. SC-106 Pendulum

SC-107 Speed Option

Speed Option tests shooting at multiple distances and has the farthest stop plate of all the stages. Engage (T1-T4) Finish on Stop Plate (SP) - Competitors shoot all five strings from the center shooting box. The best four out of five runs count for score. ( Stage Planning )

SC-108 Roundabout
